Hi all..
As promised, I'm back to give a 'lil insight into our EIR class today. EIR = Effective Internet Research. & so, 1st class has been interesting so far & for the first time I get to see a whole range of yr1s to yr3s & beyond, all jumbled up in a class. Kool huh?
We warmed up to each other & soon got to work hands-on for our intro to finding resources from the Internet. We got into groups of 5 to play a game. Trivia qns..simple. In a jiffy answers came pouring in. So the Internet gives quick answers. hmm.. Reliability was sumwat 2nd in the checklist (not the 1st unfortunately). Maybe we'll go into tt a 'lil later?
After that we broke up to get to work on tutorials & to read up lect notes. Personally, I thought i knew the Web well enough. I was dead WRONG. I didn't even know wat RSS stood for! hahaha.. Da lect notes, even in its briefness, was very insightful & clarified quite a few things for me.
Prac 1 & 2 were fun but it got me some time to figure out where exactly to look for sources on the topic I chose for researching. To actually look for websites, forums and blogs that specifically caters to my topic was quite a chore at 1st, but I got the hang of it soon. among the first few websites i surfed was Wikipedia (sort of a first stop, to get an idea of what i'm looking into).
& hey, even http://www.treehugger.com/ is created in the form of a blog! Nice!
Sharing online among my friends was easy. MSN Messenger has really changed how we communicate with people. At ease, and in the comfort of our own home, we are still able to discuss freely among friends. Now tt's connectivity.
OK, thats about it for today. Thanks for the lect notes & for making class a fun & easy environment. I'll c u all tml in class. Takecare =)
